Elitza Datcheva

Elitza Datcheva
Elitza began practicing yoga in 2000 while working for an investment bank. Since then, she has received multiple yoga certifications and is currently in the midst of her 500-hour training. What started as mere curiousity and hope for stress management has turned into passion, full time occupation and an irresistable desire to bring a well-rounded yoga practice to New York, where she has been teaching since 2004. Her classes are an eclectic mix of the various lineages she's been exploring, so you may be surprised where the winding yoga road will take you!

More about Elitza

What class do you teach at Pure?
Hot Power Yoga.

How long have you been practicing yoga?
I have been practicing for 12 humbling years.

What brought you to teaching / what do you love about teaching?
One of my teachers said, "Treat every class as if it is the most important class of your life and every student as your revered teacher." It's magic - I am in a bubble of peace and joy for the duration of teaching my class. I am proud to be helping people.

What motivates you to practice today?
It used to be about the pose, but now it's about me observing myself in the pose. My daughter has become a strong motivation for how I live. She keeps saying I look 16 and not at all 38, and I can thank yoga for that.

What do you love about Pure Yoga?
It is like an exquisite designer bouquet- it is pretty, diverse, and brings happiness to all in many different ways.
