  • Asana Adjustment in Ashtanga Yoga — Yoga in Someone Else’s Body, Part 3
  • A Practice-Lab Module of the Ashtanga Immersion

The Ashtanga Yoga method is widely known for its sequence of postures combined with coordinated breathing and movement. An equally unique feature is its approach to teaching, popularly known as “Mysore-style,” in which students practice under the individualized guidance of a teacher (or set of teachers). Asana adjustment — giving and receiving manual assists in poses — is central to this student-teacher collaboration. At its best, it is an art grounded in technique, energetic sensitivity, and experience. This workshop will focus on those first two components (only time and dedication yield experience). Taken individually or as a series, the three weekends teach students: a fundamental repertoire of adjustment techniques guidelines for translating the experience of being assisted into working with others how to approach adjustment as an extension of one’s own Yoga practice
