Nicole Katz SYT, IAYT & Esther Palmer
- PYI Presents | Yoga 216’s Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers
How does the program work?
We begin by learning how basic movements in the body are created. Then we apply that knowledge by analyzing asana through a kinesiological lens. From there we begin to assess why asana challenge different bodies in the same, and in different ways. We’ll also give you tools to modify any asana for various situations, including of course several common musculoskeletal injuries. The course wraps up with sequencing tools that will help you to design not only powerful group classes, but also smart progressions for your private clients.
This course is a premier course, ensuring a ratio of six students per teacher or less. Spots are limited.

Nicole Katz, SYT, IAYT, E-RYT 500
Nicole first began her yoga practice 20 years ago in Iyengar’s tradition. After moving to NYC and being introduced to vinyasa, she was drawn to get her first YA certification in 2008 as a means to help her acting students safely bring their bodies back into alignment. When introduced to Structural Yoga Therapy and Mukunda Stiles, she knew she was home. She was drawn to SYT specifically for its individualized diagnostic properties and use of common medical terminology. SYT uses these as a bridge into the yogic world allowing practitioners to enter into the practice at their own pace in a safe and customized way. In 2012, Nicole opened Yoga 216 to bring together the benefits of SYT, private yoga instruction, and the fun of group classes.
Esther Palmer, E-RYT 500
An ISHTA Certified Teacher, Esther has also completed formal training in Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra, Prenatal Yoga, ISHTA Marma Therapy, ISHTA Yin Yoga, Thai Yoga Bodywork, and anatomy with Irene Dowd and Kristin Leal. She infuses her classes with principles from the Alexander Technique, and strives to cultivate kinesthetic awareness in her students. Esther loves teaching anatomy as one means to understanding how and why we can move ourselves into balance.
